Computer-Based or Paper-Based IELTS exam?
Which form is better to take the IELTS exam? Computer Based or Paper Based?
This is one of the most frequently asked questions by students lately. This is actually a somewhat individual matter and can be decided based on your personal qualities. For example, if your handwriting is bad, you can take the Computer Based IELTS exam, and if you are not good with the keyboard, you can take the Paper Based IELTS exam.
Now let's look at the advantages and disadvantages of each section:
IELTS Listening
This section is easier in PB. Because looking at the monitor and keyboard at the same time on the CD can confuse you.
IELTS Reading
Although CD is more convenient because we see the text and questions on the screen at the same time during reading, it can be relatively difficult for those like me who are used to constantly highlighting key words on the page.
IELTS Writing
CD is more convenient for this section. Because you can easily delete (copy paste issues) by looking at the number of words and without touching it.
-But let's not forget that your chances of spelling are higher on CD.
Those with deadline issues can always prefer CD. Because, while you have to wait 13 days for your certificate in PB, you can get it in 2-4 days in computer-based exam.
Finally, let us note that it is recommended that you decide which format you will take the IELTS exam in advance - during the preparation procedure, so that you can adapt your practices to it and get used to the structure.
You can also test yourself by participating in the IELTS Mock Exam beforehand
To sum up, even if you go through all the advantages and disadvantages, remember to decide on your personal qualities and habits when deciding on your exam format.
